Day 6

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 2:9-10

Today, we read 2 Timothy 2:9-10 and we are reminded that Paul was in prison for preaching the gospel. In 2 Timothy 1:16, we were first made aware of Paul’s imprisonment when God had Paul share how Onesiphorus was not ashamed of Paul’s chains. In 2 Timothy 2:9, God has Paul clarify that he was in chains because Paul was being persecuted for preaching Christ as being risen from the dead and being the Savior of all creation. Even though Paul was in prison, God shared through Paul that His Word could never be imprisoned. Our Lord Jesus Christ will always be proclaimed among the nations as long as Christians are here on earth. God never wants us to be sidetracked by the tests and trials of this life, no matter how hard they might be. As Christians, God has us here on the earth to live for Him and also to proclaim Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. God’s desire is that everyone on this earth has an opportunity to receive His gift of eternal life through Christ (1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9). Because God desires everyone to be saved, God had Paul share, in 2 Timothy 2:10, that the reason he was willing to endure prison was for the sake of those who still needed a relationship with Christ as Lord. God wants us to endure the tests and trials of this life for that same reason, so others will have the opportunity to come to know Christ as we do.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about suffering in this life for the sake of the gospel? 2. How are you currently dying to your fears in order to share Christ and live completely for Him no matter what the cost?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we ended 1 Timothy 1, remember that everyone from the region of Asia had deserted Paul and only Onesiphorus was there to help encourage Paul. God continues to lead Paul, as Paul writes to Timothy (and us) in 2 Timothy 2. There is no doubt that God is warning Timothy (and us) that, as Christians, we will have people turn their backs on us. ...

Day 2

God has called each of us to listen and learn from each other as followers of Christ. We read today in 2 Timothy 2:2, through Paul, how God is telling Timothy (and us) that everything we have learned from God’s Word from godly followers of Christ, we must also teach to others. God has given us His Word to feed us each day, to apply His Truth ...

Day 3

Through Paul, God encourages Timothy (and us) to walk through the difficulties of this life which we have been called to endure. We are to face the challenges “as a good soldier” of our Lord Jesus Christ. A soldier trains for battle, for the soldier recognizes that facing battles is what they have enlisted to do. As Christians, we surrendered...

Day 4

In 2 Timothy 2:5-7, God continues to use Paul to give Timothy (and us) illustrations of what it looks like to walk with Him each day as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yesterday, God used the soldier as an excellent illustration of what it looks like to walk with Christ. Knowing we face spiritual battles each day means we must be prepare...

Day 5

Through Paul today, in 2 Timothy 2:8, God reminds Timothy and us to “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel.” Remembering that Christ is risen from the dead gives us hope. As a matter of fact, through Paul, God makes the point of the resurrection crystal clear in 1 Corinthians 15:13-17 “…if the...

Day 7

As we close out this week in 2 Timothy 2:11-13, through Paul, God proclaims an incredibly trustworthy statement. First, God reminds Timothy (and us) that if we have truly died with Christ, then we will also live with Him. We find this same Truth in Romans 6:8 and again in 1 Thessalonians 5:10. God never wants us to doubt that if we have surre...
