Day 2

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 2:2

God has called each of us to listen and learn from each other as followers of Christ. We read today in 2 Timothy 2:2, through Paul, how God is telling Timothy (and us) that everything we have learned from God’s Word from godly followers of Christ, we must also teach to others. God has given us His Word to feed us each day, to apply His Truth each day, and to teach others each day as well. We know we’ve been called to teach others because Christ gave us His command in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Again, God repeats His command through Paul to Timothy (and us) here in 2 Timothy 2. What God has given us to teach is the rich treasure of Him and His Word. To be able to teach others, we not only need to be growing in the knowledge of God’s Word, but we need to be living God’s Word. We must be walking in God’s Truth for others to be willing to listen to what we have to say. Our lives must match the things we teach. Let’s all ask God, according to Colossians 4:3-4, for the opportunities to share Him and His Truth today.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about listening and learning from others and also how He wants to use you to invest in others? 2. How are you currently walking in God’s Truth and how are you sharing His Truth with others?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we ended 1 Timothy 1, remember that everyone from the region of Asia had deserted Paul and only Onesiphorus was there to help encourage Paul. God continues to lead Paul, as Paul writes to Timothy (and us) in 2 Timothy 2. There is no doubt that God is warning Timothy (and us) that, as Christians, we will have people turn their backs on us. ...

Day 3

Through Paul, God encourages Timothy (and us) to walk through the difficulties of this life which we have been called to endure. We are to face the challenges “as a good soldier” of our Lord Jesus Christ. A soldier trains for battle, for the soldier recognizes that facing battles is what they have enlisted to do. As Christians, we surrendered...

Day 4

In 2 Timothy 2:5-7, God continues to use Paul to give Timothy (and us) illustrations of what it looks like to walk with Him each day as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yesterday, God used the soldier as an excellent illustration of what it looks like to walk with Christ. Knowing we face spiritual battles each day means we must be prepare...

Day 5

Through Paul today, in 2 Timothy 2:8, God reminds Timothy and us to “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel.” Remembering that Christ is risen from the dead gives us hope. As a matter of fact, through Paul, God makes the point of the resurrection crystal clear in 1 Corinthians 15:13-17 “…if the...

Day 6

Today, we read 2 Timothy 2:9-10 and we are reminded that Paul was in prison for preaching the gospel. In 2 Timothy 1:16, we were first made aware of Paul’s imprisonment when God had Paul share how Onesiphorus was not ashamed of Paul’s chains. In 2 Timothy 2:9, God has Paul clarify that he was in chains because Paul was being persecuted for pr...

Day 7

As we close out this week in 2 Timothy 2:11-13, through Paul, God proclaims an incredibly trustworthy statement. First, God reminds Timothy (and us) that if we have truly died with Christ, then we will also live with Him. We find this same Truth in Romans 6:8 and again in 1 Thessalonians 5:10. God never wants us to doubt that if we have surre...
