Scripture to Read: Romans 8:10–11
God’s Word is so rich, and He loves when our eyes are opened to the fullness of all we have in Him. So today, we read in Romans 8:10–11, If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. So, God reminds us that our body is dead because of sin. Remember in Romans 6:12–14, when God told us not to let sin rule in our mortal body and not to present our bodies to sin? So, God reminds us in Romans 8 that our body is dead because of sin. But though it was dead without Christ, our spirit has been resurrected to life through Christ because His Spirit gave us life. And His Spirit provides us with the fullness of Christ’s righteousness, so God sees us as righteous because of His Spirit living in us. But what is really cool is that one day, even for those who have already died in Christ, the mortal bodies we live in will be raised to life. So, just like Christ, our body, soul, and spirit will be made brand new. Our soul and spirit are already brand new (2 Corinthians 5:17, John 3:3, Romans 6:4, Galatians 6:15) but not our mortal body. So, His Holy Spirit will give our mortal body new life.
