Scripture to Read: Romans 2:14–15
In Romans 2:14–15, God makes it clear why the Gentiles, who do not have the Law, can be found guilty of their sin. God has Paul write His Word to reveal that though Gentiles do not have the Law which was given to the Jews, what Gentiles do have is the evidence of the Law written on their hearts by God. Every soul on the face of the earth has a conscience given to them by God. Though lost people's minds have been blinded (2 Corinthians 4:3–4) by the god of this world to the Truth of Christ, they are still without excuse. God has given every lost soul a conscience. Because God has given every soul a conscience, even lost people do instinctively the things God’s Law requires, as their conscience guides them. God makes it clear in Romans 2:15 that because lost people have a conscience, they become a law to themselves. To better understand this, take the example of a murderer. Without having a law saying “Do not murder,” both believers and unbelievers recognize that killing someone is wrong. So, all humanity has some sense of morality. Their morality allows them to see the difference between right and wrong. Because lost people do not obey God's Word, they seek to excuse their sin by the standard they have set for themselves. But God proclaims them guilty of their sin because they are ultimately accountable to Him as their Creator. Lost people need salvation from their sin. Only through Christ is salvation available, so share Him with everyone.
