Scripture to Read: Romans 15:13
God had Paul pray another prayer in Romans 15:13, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” According to this prayer, we are reminded that God is our God of hope. Our hope in this life has nothing to do with anything this world has to offer us. Our hope is in Christ, knowing He sacrificed His life for us to reconcile us to God the Father. Because we are reconciled to God the Father through Christ, we are made right with God and restored to a right relationship with Him. Because of our relationship with God the Father through Christ our Lord, we have the privilege of walking in sweet fellowship with Him daily. Therefore, God desires all believers to be daily filled with His joy and peace, knowing that we have placed our trust in Him through Christ our Lord. Joy and peace are not possible apart from God, but we can experience His joy and peace daily in Christ. God also wants us all to overflow with hope in His promises through the power of His Holy Spirit in us. We have this hope in Christ while also knowing He gives us His wisdom and knowledge to understand His promises. God never wants us to miss all we have in Christ because of His Holy Spirit in us. The good news in the first part of this prayer is evidence of God’s desire for each of us.
