Day 4

Scripture to Read: Romans 15:25–27

God has had us examining Paul’s ministry and how Paul had desired to go to Rome to meet his brothers and sisters in Christ there. God had Paul share with the believers in Rome that God was opening a door for him to be able to come to Rome but before getting to Rome, God had Paul go to Jerusalem. God had opened the door for Paul to go to Jerusalem to serve his Jewish brothers and sisters in Christ. God had Paul share why going to Jerusalem was so important in Romans 15:26, “For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.” So, we’re reminded that the Gentile believers in Macedonia and Achaia had given Paul a gift to be used to help the Jewish believers in Jerusalem who were struggling financially. What a great reminder for all of us that since we are a body of believers, we are to share what we have to help other believers in need. But then God had Paul shed a little more light on why the Gentile believers in Macedonia and Achaia had such a special place in their hearts for the Jewish believers in Jerusalem. We read in Romans 15:27, “Yes, they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things.” The Gentile believers came to know Christ because of the Jewish believers in Jerusalem, so they felt compelled to share their material blessings.

Challenge & Application

How has God used you to help bless someone else with either a financial gift or giving of your time and talents? How has God used other believers in your life to bless you financially or with their help in some other way?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we ended last week, God challenged us to share the Good News with those who have not heard of Him yet. We were also challenged to pray Colossians 4:3–4 and seek out those opportunities to share Him, knowing and trusting that God will open up opportunities for us. As we start today, we read in Romans 15:22, “For this reason I have often bee...

Day 2

God, in His sovereign work, leads and guides us to ministry opportunities every day. We need to have our hearts ready and our spiritual eyes open so we do not miss what God has in store for us to do. God makes it clear in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that...

Day 3

Today, before we get into the text, we need to understand that in Acts 16 & Acts 17, we find recorded the accounts of Paul, Silas, and Timothy planting churches in Macedonia. The churches God used these men to plant were in Philippi (Acts 16:12–40), Thessalonica (Acts 17:1–9), and Berea (Acts 17:10–14). In 1 Thessalonians, God used Paul to en...

Day 5

We have learned over the last several months, and even examined it more closely over these last few days, how Paul had this desire to go to Rome and meet his brothers and sisters in Christ. We all have had ministry opportunities offered to us where we had to say no because we were already involved in another ministry God had placed us into. A...

Day 6

Words of encouragement are incredibly important to us all. God had Paul write a quick word of encouragement to the believers in Rome in Romans 15:29, “I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.” God used Paul to tell the believers that he was sure that when he finally got to Rome to see his brothers...

Day 7

As we finish up today, we read how Paul asked for prayer in Romans 15:30–33, “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to th...
