Day 1

Scripture to Read: Romans 15:22

As we ended last week, God challenged us to share the Good News with those who have not heard of Him yet. We were also challenged to pray Colossians 4:3–4 and seek out those opportunities to share Him, knowing and trusting that God will open up opportunities for us. As we start today, we read in Romans 15:22, “For this reason I have often been prevented from coming to you.” God allowed Paul to share his heart about getting to Rome and that the reason Paul had not been to Rome yet was that God had been using him to share the gospel with unreached people. There will be times in our lives when we will have the desire to serve our Lord in more than one area of ministry. We should never see this as a bad thing but learn to trust our Lord in where He has us and not to leave that ministry before God has accomplished all that He desires to accomplish in us and through us. If we’re not careful, we can run ahead of what God has for us to do because we will run to what we think is most urgent. Just because something seems urgent to us does not mean that it is actually urgent. Notice again how God had Paul say what he wrote in Romans 15:22, that he had been prevented from getting to Rome, not just once or twice but “often.” Paul never missed God’s will, but Paul did exactly what God had for him to do.

Challenge & Application

Where do you know God wants to use you right now to share the life-changing message of our Lord Jesus Christ? How do you guard yourself to ensure God and His Word lead you and not the feelings of your heart?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

God, in His sovereign work, leads and guides us to ministry opportunities every day. We need to have our hearts ready and our spiritual eyes open so we do not miss what God has in store for us to do. God makes it clear in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that...

Day 3

Today, before we get into the text, we need to understand that in Acts 16 & Acts 17, we find recorded the accounts of Paul, Silas, and Timothy planting churches in Macedonia. The churches God used these men to plant were in Philippi (Acts 16:12–40), Thessalonica (Acts 17:1–9), and Berea (Acts 17:10–14). In 1 Thessalonians, God used Paul to en...

God had opened the door for Paul to go to Jerus...

Day 5

We have learned over the last several months, and even examined it more closely over these last few days, how Paul had this desire to go to Rome and meet his brothers and sisters in Christ. We all have had ministry opportunities offered to us where we had to say no because we were already involved in another ministry God had placed us into. A...

Day 6

Words of encouragement are incredibly important to us all. God had Paul write a quick word of encouragement to the believers in Rome in Romans 15:29, “I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.” God used Paul to tell the believers that he was sure that when he finally got to Rome to see his brothers...

Day 7

As we finish up today, we read how Paul asked for prayer in Romans 15:30–33, “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to th...
