Scripture to Read: Romans 12:2
We finish today with Romans 12:2. We know God has told us to be renewed in our minds, and we know that is only possible through His Spirit and His powerful Word. But another reason to be renewed in our minds, according to Romans 12:2, is, so we are able to “prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” God does not want us to miss His will for our lives because it is good, pleasing, and perfect. Now, God’s will is not always easy. As believers, we must guard against the thoughts that if we’re in the middle of God’s will that everything is going to be easy. Jesus even told us that if we were going to follow Him, it was going to cost us everything (Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23–24, Luke 14:27). So, God’s will is good, perfect, and definitely pleasing to our Lord, but not easy. Knowing God’s will comes through passionately pursuing our intimate time with our Lord each day and bathing our minds with His Word. Many Christians struggle with knowing God’s will as if God plays a game with us, seeking to hide His perfect will, and we must figure it out for ourselves. But we must guard against this lie because God does want us to know Him and His will. People miss God’s will because they choose not to know His Word by spending daily time in His Word. Pursue Him and His Word and you’ll know His will for you.
Challenge & Application
· What did God teach you about His will, and what causes people to miss His perfect will?
· How do you know if you are walking in God’s will and as you do, how do you stay in God’s will?
