Day 6

Scripture to Read: Romans 12:2

God told us we should not be “conformed to this world.” Thankfully, He also told us in Romans 12:2, “but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The transformation of our lives begins in our minds. God knows how powerful He has made our minds. He also knows how the enemy works to plant lies within our minds to distract us, disillusion us, cause doubt, disturb us, and ultimately destroy us (John 10:10). God knows that His Spirit in us gives us all of the power we need to overcome (1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Peter 1:3–4). Still, we must dwell on Him and His Word (Philippians 4:8) to overcome. So, to transform our minds, we must replace the enemy's lies with God’s most powerful Word. God tells us to be renewed in our minds in Ephesians 4:23 and that we must be destroying the garbage the enemy tries to get us to buy into in 2 Corinthians 10:3–5. God also tells us that we must focus on Him and His Word in Colossians 3:1–4. We must memorize His Word so that when the enemy comes with his deceptions, we can overcome them through His Word. Our Lord Jesus Christ defeated the enemy's lies in Matthew 4:1–11 by quoting God’s Truth. So, our Lord gave us the perfect example of how to defeat the lust of the flesh, eyes, and the boastful pride of life and it’s through using “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17).

Day 1

We only have two verses to unpack as we prepare for worship this coming Sunday. But God’s Word is so incredibly powerful and transformational that God will teach us much this week. So, as God used Paul to write this letter, we read how God used Paul to strongly “urge” all believers. To be urged is to be strongly encouraged, persuaded, or even...

Day 2

We know from yesterday’s devotion that God used Paul to “urge” all of us by His rich mercies and that urging is to present our bodies as living and holy sacrifices. As followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we need the constant reminder that our bodies no longer belong to us. When we surrendered to Christ as Lord, He became Lord of all of us, in...

Day 3

We began to unpack glorifying God through our bodies as we present ourselves to Him as “a living and holy sacrifice.” We know the physical shells we live in will not last forever, but God desires that these shells be used for His glory while we're here. In Romans 12:1, God had Paul use the phrase “acceptable to God.” To live acceptable to God...

Day 4

Everything we have had God speaking to our hearts this week has been about His urging us according to His rich mercies to make sure we are presenting our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him. We have already seen several reasons we must do this, but today we unpack another reason. God tells us we do all of this because it i...

Day 5

God is teaching us so much, and today, He continues to challenge us as He used Paul to pen these words in Romans 12:2, “do not be conformed to this world.” To be conformed to something means we look and act like it. Another way of saying it is that we model our lives after it. God does not want us to look anything like the world since we have...

Day 7

We finish today with Romans 12:2. We know God has told us to be renewed in our minds, and we know that is only possible through His Spirit and His powerful Word. But another reason to be renewed in our minds, according to Romans 12:2, is, so we are able to “prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” God doe...
