Scripture to Read: Romans 12:1
Everything we have had God speaking to our hearts this week has been about His urging us according to His rich mercies to make sure we are presenting our bodies as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him. We have already seen several reasons we must do this, but today we unpack another reason. God tells us we do all of this because it is our “spiritual service of worship.” We worship our Lord by dedicating ourselves (spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, financially, and sexually) to Him. Too often, people think that worship is only tied to music. Many churches even give the person who leads the music ministry the title of “Worship Pastor.” But if worship is only linked to music, then worship is limited to those who are musically inclined. Thankfully worship is connected to all areas of our lives, and a big part of our worship is how we present our bodies to our King. Remember, our body is His temple (1 Corinthians 3:16, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, 2 Corinthians 6:16, Ephesians 2:21–22); therefore, we must glorify Him in all areas of our lives. We honor/worship our King in the way we talk (Matthew 12:34, Ephesians 4:29, Ephesians 5:4, Colossians 3:8), the way we think (2 Corinthians 10:3–5, Ephesians 4:23), and the way we act (Galatians 5:13–23, Ephesians 4:31–32, Colossians 3:5–16).
