Scripture to Read: Romans 12:1
We only have two verses to unpack as we prepare for worship this coming Sunday. But God’s Word is so incredibly powerful and transformational that God will teach us much this week. So, as God used Paul to write this letter, we read how God used Paul to strongly “urge” all believers. To be urged is to be strongly encouraged, persuaded, or even to plead with someone or a group. What God was about to have Paul write was not to be taken lightly by any believers. Of course, we should never take any of God’s Word lightly. But there are times when God highlights certain Truths in His Word because He wants us to be sure we are paying attention to that Truth so that we apply that Truth to our lives. We must also take note of how God led Paul to add “by the mercies of God” to the urging. God’s desire is for us to walk in His Truth. God knows His Truth transforms us and as we apply His Truth to our lives, we walk in the rich blessings He has for us. Also, God does not want us to try to earn something from Him, but He wants us to know that we already have His rich mercy poured out on us (Ephesians 2:4). We are never running short on God’s mercy toward us because of Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. So, it’s because of God’s rich mercy (all He’s done for us through Christ) that God used Paul to urge us to walk in His Truth.
Challenge & Application
· In what areas of your life has God strongly urged you to apply His Word to your life and live for Him?
· How are you helping urge other believers to walk in God’s Truth daily?
