Scripture to Read: Romans 1:17
As we saw yesterday in Romans 1:17, we found out that God’s “Good News” is what tells us how God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, makes us right in His sight. Today we read further and find that being made right with our Heavenly Father is accomplished from start to finish by placing our complete faith in Christ. Faith is this, as God tells us in Hebrews 11:1–2, …faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. 2 For by this [kind of] faith the men of old gained [divine] approval. (Amplified Version) God, through His abundant grace and mercy, gave us the faith that we need to be able to trust Him, as noted in Romans 12:3, For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service]. (Amplified Version) So, the faith we have was given to us by God so that we could place that faith back in Him through our Lord Jesus Christ. God has always desired that mankind choose Him, just as He has already chosen them (Ephesians 1:3–4, 2 Thessalonians 2:13–17). Let’s lead them to Him.
Challenge & Application
· What did you learn about faith today that you did not know until now?
· How are you leading others to place the faith that they’ve been given in God through Christ alone?
