Day 5

Scripture to Read: Romans 1:17

The gospel of God is, as we know, transforming, changing every person who surrenders to Christ as Lord. As we read Romans 1:17 today, we find that in the gospel and through the gospel, God’s righteousness is completely revealed. God’s righteousness is Christ Himself. We know Christ is righteousness because God tells us this in 1 Corinthians 1:30–31, But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.” God also clarifies that Christ is righteousness and that we become righteous through Christ in Jeremiah 33:16, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and Philippians 3:9. Of course, we find this Truth: Christ is our righteousness throughout God’s Word. Christ being our righteousness is great news because all of us who know Him have been made righteous through our relationship with Him. God clearly shows us this in 2 Corinthians 5:21; He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Many believers do not grasp this incredible Truth: that we are already righteous before our Heavenly Father because of Christ in us. When we fully grasp that we are righteous, then we can clearly share this truth with others so that they can have the opportunity to become righteous through Christ as well. Let’s be sure and live out the righteousness that we have, and are, in Christ.

Day 1

We all know how rich God’s Word is to us. We know that His Word feeds us, strengthens us, guides us, gives us what we need to be able to walk in obedience to our Lord, and so much more. There are times when we come upon a certain portion of Scripture that has so much “solid food” (1 Corinthians 3:2, Hebrews 5:12–14) that we need to take time ...

Day 2

Yesterday, we began to examine the importance of not being “ashamed of the gospel.” Our Lord Jesus Christ told us the consequences of being ashamed of Him and His Word. We read what our Lord said in Mark 8:38, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when H...

Day 3

In the last two days, we’ve seen how important it is for us never to be ashamed of the gospel (the Good News about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all that He has done for us). As we continue to move forward through Romans 1:16, we read today that the gospel “is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” God says this abou...

Day 4

As we continue to unpack Romans 1:16–17, we see today in Romans 1:16 that the gospel is for everyone, “to the Jew first and also to the Greek. God had Paul put this in His Word because many of the Jews believed that their Messiah was only coming for them. It was hard for them to even think about Gentiles being included in God’s Kingdom becaus...

Day 6

As we saw yesterday in Romans 1:17, we found out that God’s “Good News” is what tells us how God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, makes us right in His sight. Today we read further and find that being made right with our Heavenly Father is accomplished from start to finish by placing our complete faith in Christ. Faith is this, as God tells us...

Day 7

Today we finish with this statement in Romans 1:17 as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.” As God led Paul to write, Paul quoted directly from Habakkuk 2:4, “Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.” Our righteousness in Christ gives us “life” through Chri...
