Scripture to Read: Psalm 51:14–15
God loves us so much and loves when we choose to have sweet fellowship with him each day. He wants nothing more than for us to be sure we do not miss everything He has for us each day, including the tests and trials. We all know the distance we feel from God when we sin, though He does not go anywhere. We feel this distance because we are the ones who have turned our backs on Him. We have learned so much this week about what Christ has done for us and how much better we have it now than David did since Christ had not come as the long-awaited Messiah while David walked this earth. So, as God allowed David to write, we read in Psalm 51:14–15, “Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your praise.” We know David committed adultery with Bathsheba, but we have not talked about David’s sin of murder. David was deeply aware of his sin of murder against Uriah (2 Samuel 11) as he wrote Psalm 51:14. He was now confessing His sin of murder, for he knew deliverance was only possible from God. David knew, as we do, that salvation is only possible through God and through His salvation; we have reason to sing, rejoice, and declare His praise. God has delivered us from all our sins through Christ; therefore, we must choose to praise Him daily and throughout the day.
