Scripture to Read: Psalm 128:1
God loves to meet us where we are but never wants to leave us where we are. God is constantly working in our lives so that we are growing, maturing, and being sanctified by Him and through His Word each day. God tells us in Psalm 128:1, “How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.” In yesterday’s devotion, we began unpacking who God blesses. God tells us in Psalm 128 that He also blesses those who fear Him. Again, we know to fear God is to have an incredible awe and reverence for God. Since we cannot see God with our eyes, we must get into God’s Word to see who He is and how He is described throughout His Word to understand why He is worthy of our worship, awe, and reverence. In Revelation, our Lord is described as follows: Revelation 1:4, “Him who is and who was and who is to come,” Revelation 1:5, “Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth,” Revelation 1:5, “Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood,” Revelation 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” and Revelation 1:17–18, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” These descriptions alone give us enough to know why we should be in fear (awe & reverence) of our Lord daily
