Scripture to Read: Nehemiah 2:1-9
As we finish up the first half of Nehemiah 2, let’s consider what God has taught us so far this week. We know that God desires for us to rest in Him, to trust in Him, and to completely rely on Him in all areas of our lives, even when it is uncomfortable and inconvenient. We have learned we must have godly Christian friends in our lives who will come alongside us and help bear our burdens. God wants us to lay those burdens before Him, which means we must continuously practice His presence in all areas of our lives. We must learn to be in continual fellowship with our Lord and King. To be in constant fellowship with God means we must become comfortable talking with Him anytime, anywhere, about anything. We must believe that He’s listening, He cares, and that He will answer in His perfect time according to His perfect will (Romans 8:26-27). We learned that God is always working miraculously, but that we must have our eyes wide open so that we not miss His handiwork or dismiss His handiwork by calling it coincidence or giving glory to someone instead of Him (James 1:17). We learned we must be doers of God’s Word and not just hearers (James 1:24-25). We know God has created works for us to walk in and we must be about His work and will (Titus 2:14). Finally, we learned that God’s timing is always perfect and that even though the road is tough, God will meet our needs.
Challenge & Application
1. What truths are you walking in this week, and how is God using His Truth to transform you?
2. Who will you share these truths with and when will you share these truths with them?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
