Day 2

Scripture to Read: Matthew 7:13–14

Jesus told us about the wide gate and the broad road leading to destruction. Again, the sad truth is that too many are going in that direction and think they’re OK. Here is their problem: God’s Word tells us 2 Corinthians 4:3–4, “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” The Good News of Christ and all He offers the human race, too many people are too blind to see. Again, God’s Word tells us in Romans 1:18–23 and Ephesians 4:17–19 why the god of this world can blind people. Those blinded to God’s Truth have chosen to remain futile, darkened, excluded, ignorant, hardened, and calloused in their minds and hearts. But the Good News is that God has provided the way that leads to life. Jesus said the gate is small, and the way/road is narrow leading to life. Entering this small gate means we must bow low, humbling ourselves, which also means that no one who is proud and puffed up can enter. Also, since the road is narrow, we come single file with nothing to offer God except a broken life, willingly surrendering to Christ as Lord, knowing that life is only found in Him. We must share with the spiritually blind how to get to the small gate and narrow way so they can choose correctly.

Challenge & Application

· Why do people remain spiritually deaf and blind to God’s Good News of Christ? · How can we help lead people to the small gate and narrow road?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Jesus is drawing the Sermon on the Mount to a close. Jesus ends it by teaching some powerful Truths about salvation, false teachers, and making sure we choose wisely the foundation on which we stand. Day 3

Jesus warns us about false teachers and how to recognize them. Jesus said in Matthew 7:15–20, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good ...

Day 4

As Jesus warned about the false prophets, He also gave us a way to know if teachers/prophets were false. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?” We know what God’s fruit looks like because God tells us in Galatians 5:22–23, “But the fruit of ...

Day 5

Day 6

Jesus challenges the people, and of course, this challenge is for us as He says (in Matthew 7:24–27), “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did no...

Day 7

When Jesus had finished teaching that day, here is what God’s Word records in Matthew 7:28–29, “When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching; 29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.” The powerful Words of our Lord Jesus Christ blew away the people. They said Christ taught a...
