Scripture to Read: Luke 16:10–12
As we walk through Luke 16, we need to understand, that when Jesus shared that the rich man praised the manager, this praise was aimed at the manager’s clever timing and the fact that he planned for the possibility that he would get fired. Jesus was never praising the manager for his embezzlement and fraud. Also, Jesus wants us to know that we must never fall into the trap of wasting our opportunities to be used by Him. We must be wise and also urgent in how we prepare for what comes each day. We must plan and execute God-honoring priorities rather than last-minute decisions that result in less than God-honoring service. Jesus went on to share this in Luke 16:10–12, “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12 And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?” Our Lord desires that we live a life of integrity in our everyday decisions even when no one is watching. God is always watching how we handle the resources, time, words, and opportunities that He gives us each new day. We must be faithful in all seven areas of our lives (spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, financially, and sexually). We must steward all areas of our lives for His glory.
