Day 7

Scripture to Read: John 21:24–25

God used the Apostle John to give us God’s fourth Gospel. As God led John to close this book, we find this recorded in John 21:24–25: This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written. God had John solidify that he was the writer so there’d be no doubt that God used him to pen these words. God also had John confirm that everything he had written was true. Many people have questioned the validity of God’s Word over the centuries, but God has repeatedly proven that His Word is His and that His Word is Truth. What’s interesting is that God had John add that if everything Jesus did had been recorded, the world would not be big enough to contain all of the books it would take to have a full account of all that Jesus had done. So, we can rest in the fact that the sixty-six books God did give us are absolutely more than enough Truth from God to believe in Christ as Lord, walk in the fullness of Him, and obey our Lord through every area of our lives. We have no excuse for not knowing God’s will for our lives each day. We also have no excuse for not walking in full obedience to Him, so let’s be about Him and His will.

Challenge & Application

• How do we know that what God has given us in the sixty-six books of the Bible is more than enough to understand and follow Him? • How are you deepening your intimacy with God and His Word to be a better-equipped disciple of His?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Jesus had risen and shown Himself to the disciples twice in the room where they had stayed during the three days that Jesus’ body was in the tomb. As God led John to write, we now read in John 21:1–3, After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter...

Day 2

Peter and some of the other disciples, including John, had fished all night and now the day was breaking. God had John record in John 21:4–8, But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 So Jesus *said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, ...

Day 3

When reading God’s Word, we often move through it so quickly that we miss what God is saying to us. God then had John record this in John 21:9–14: So when they got out on the land, they *saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus *said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.” 11 Simon Peter...

Day 4

Our Lord Jesus Christ loves us with His everlasting love, and He hates when we are not in right fellowship with Him and the Father through His Spirit. There is no doubt that Peter had the nagging memory of denying His Lord. It had not been but a few days, or possibly a week, since it had happened. Our Lord provides us with a beautiful way to ...

Day 5

After Jesus had Peter confess his love for Him, Jesus then said this to Peter: (John 21:18–19) Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this...

Day 6

Most of us are very much like Peter. Even as we read, study, and memorize God’s Word, we may be thinking in the back of our mind, well, so and so needs to hear this too. After Jesus told Peter, “Follow Me,” God had John record this in John 21:20–23, Peter, turning around, *saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had...
