Day 6

Scripture to Read: John 14:21–25

Jesus had already told His disciples (in John 14:15) that obedience to Him is the actual proof that we love Him. Jesus comes back to this same truth in John 14:21–25, “He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. 25 “These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.” Our Lord reveals Himself to all of His children. Those of us who know Him as our Lord and Savior experience Him daily through His Holy Spirit in us and His Word. Our Lord does not hide Himself from His children but has opened up His throne room of grace so we can fellowship with Him continuously. Judas (not Iscariot) asked Jesus a great question. Jesus said it is those who choose to love Him that He and the Father come to and abide in. Everyone must choose to love our Lord as He loves us.

Challenge & Application

• How are you modeling your obedience to our Lord for others so they know you love Him with all your heart? • How can you encourage Christians who are out of fellowship with our Lord?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Our prayer lives are our lifeline to our intimacy with our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. The incredible privilege we have of open access to our Heavenly Father is only made possible because of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. God tells us in Ephesians 2:18, "for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to th...

Day 2

God desires that we pray about everything and not withhold anything from Him. He already knows our hearts, so there is no reason not to be honest in our prayers as we seek Him. He may not answer with a “yes,” but that does not mean He’s not listening and ministering to us as we seek Him each day. Jesus sought the Father about everything; ther...

Day 3

Jesus knows He will be leaving the disciples soon. He knows His earthly ministry is going to end, and though He has told the disciples about this several times, He knows that they still do not fully understand. The beauty about our Lord, though, is that He continues to give the disciples words of encouragement along with His words of challeng...

Day 4

Jesus did not want His disciples to feel hopeless as they would watch Him being led to the cross. Jesus knew this would be an incredibly difficult time for all eleven of them. Jesus reassured them that He would not leave them as orphans. Jesus said in John 14:18, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” Jesus knew they would fee...

Day 5

Jesus knew His presence on earth after He was raised from the dead would be for a very short time, and then He would ascend into heaven. So, Jesus told His disciples in John 14:19–20, “After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20 In that day you will know that I am in My Fat...

Day 7

Jesus gave His disciples such incredible words of encouragement that are words of encouragement for us as well. Jesus said in John 14:26–31, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to y...
