Scripture to Read: John 14:15
God desires that we pray about everything and not withhold anything from Him. He already knows our hearts, so there is no reason not to be honest in our prayers as we seek Him. He may not answer with a “yes,” but that does not mean He’s not listening and ministering to us as we seek Him each day. Jesus sought the Father about everything; therefore, so should we. As we fellowship with our Lord each day, our love for Him will be tested. Jesus knew Judas had left to betray Him but that the eleven who were there with Him would be faithful to the end of their lives. But Jesus also knew that they would face many tests and trials in their lives, so He wanted them to know that the true test of their love for Him would be evident through their obedience to Him. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Our love for our Lord and His Word is shown in the same way today. Though we say we love Jesus and His Word, the true test of our love is how much of His Word we’re obeying. God had the Apostle John write it this way in 1 John 5:3, "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome." God had John write it this way in 2 John 1:6a, "And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments… Love and obedience go hand in hand."
