Day 6

Scripture to Read: Isaiah 9:6

Today, we have the privilege of reading the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ's coming and the beautiful description of who He is. In Isaiah 9:6, God had Isaiah describe our Lord Jesus Christ as follows: For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. So, let’s unpack all that God has given us here in Isaiah 9. First, we know that Christ came as a child, not a full-grown man. How amazing to think that the King of all kings came humbly to fulfill the entire will of our Heavenly Father (Philippians 2:5-11). Christ also came as a baby and grew up in a fleshly shell so that He would face every temptation you and I face, but NEVER commit any sin at all (Hebrews 4:15). Since Christ went through every form of suffering and testing, He is the only One who can give us all we need when tested and tempted. Earlier this week, we discussed how Israel thought their Savior would be an earthy king. The government God is talking about is His Heavenly Kingdom and that Christ rules over all dominions, rulers, and authorities (Ephesians 1:21-22). Then our Lord is described as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. The fact that He lives in us should give us great comfort and courage to know everything we need is found in Him (2 Peter 1:3-9).

Challenge & Application

1. What was the most significant thing God taught you today about who our Lord Jesus Christ is and what He’s done for us? 2. How are you resting in the Prince of Peace each day and sharing His truth with others?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 3

Christ came into this world to save the people of the nation of Israel so that they could be His light to the rest of the world. God tells us in Isaiah 9:3, You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence as with the gladness of harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. God’s plan...

Day 4

Remember that Isaiah 9 is a prophecy about our Lord Jesus Christ and what He would do when He came. Many people of the nation of Israel missed Christ because they were looking for a worldly king and not the eternal King of all kings. As God led Isaiah to continue, we read in Isaiah 9:4, For You shall break the yoke of their burden and the sta...

Today we focus on Isaiah 9:5, which says, For every boot of the booted warrior in the battle tumult, and cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. God was not only telling the nation of Israel that the battle would come to an end, but what a great reminder to us that the battle we are in today will eventually be no more. ...
