Scripture to Read: Isaiah 9:3
Christ came into this world to save the people of the nation of Israel so that they could be His light to the rest of the world. God tells us in Isaiah 9:3, You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence as with the gladness of harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. God’s plan all along has been to enlarge the nation of Israel by saving people from every tongue, tribe, and nation. As people come to know Christ, there is (and should always be) great rejoicing. We rejoice because people cross over from death to life. But we also rejoice in the presence of our King because He is the One who brings about the great harvest of lost souls. We, as Christians, are also like warriors because we realize we are in a spiritual battle. We fight against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:10-18) each day so that we walk in the fullness of who we are in Christ. But we also battle for the souls of those who are still lost, as we pray John 16:8-11 and join God the Spirit as He convicts the lost of their need for Christ. Christ lives in us to multiply His kingdom for His glory. As He multiplies His kingdom, He uses us as His instruments of righteousness to share Him with those who still need Him. Our calling to share the Prince of Peace in this world of trouble and tribulation is an incredible honor for us all.
Challenge & Application
1. Christ uses us to enlarge His kingdom for His glory. How do you see God using you to fulfill this part of His will?
2. Who are you praying John 16:8-11 over and how is God using you to share Him with them?
