Day 5

Scripture to Read: Isaiah 9:5

Today we focus on Isaiah 9:5, which says, For every boot of the booted warrior in the battle tumult, and cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. God was not only telling the nation of Israel that the battle would come to an end, but what a great reminder to us that the battle we are in today will eventually be no more. In the day when God led Isaiah to write this prophecy, every soldier knew that when a battle had ended and the soldiers came home victorious they would burn their boots and cloak as their sign of victory. Too often, we as believers walk around in our old spiritual clothes, our old way of life, and we forget the victory that we have in Christ. We must remember, as God the Father makes clear in Ephesians 2:6 and Colossians 2:12, what He has done for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. God the Father has raised us from the dead because Christ was raised from the dead by Him through His Holy Spirit. God the Father has also seated us with Christ in His heavenly kingdom because we’ve been united with Christ by surrendering our lives to Him. The victory we have in Christ is that positionally, God the Father already sees us in Christ in heaven. Though we still live here on earth, God wants us to burn the old clothes of our sinfulness and put on the new clothes of righteousness and truth found in Him (Ephesians 4:22-24).

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about the victory you have in Christ since He has won the victory for us? 2. How are you putting on the clothes of righteousness and truth each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

God tells us in Isaiah 9:3, You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence as with the gladness of harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. God’s plan...

Day 4

As God led Isaiah to continue, we read in Isaiah 9:4, For You shall break the yoke of their burden and the sta...
