Scripture to Read: Isaiah 9:1
Our focus this week is on “PEACE.” We will unpack Isaiah 9:2-7, along with many other Scriptures, as God leads us on this journey to broaden and deepen our intimacy with our Prince of Peace, our Lord Jesus Christ. We begin today with Isaiah 9:1, But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish; in earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make it glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. Isaiah 9 is a prophecy about our Lord Jesus Christ. As God led Isaiah to pen these words, we’re reminded that though the land of Zebulun and Naphtali had suffered God’s judgment, their land would bring forth salvation. In other words, our Lord Jesus Christ would bring honor to this land, for He would be raised in this land on the other side of Jordan, in Galilee. We know God’s judgment on sin had to come. The Good News is that our Lord Jesus Christ bore the entire judgment of God the Father on the cross. Because our Lord took the judgment for all sin for all time, everyone who surrenders to Him as Lord receives salvation from the power and penalty of sin. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ comforts our hearts, for we know we have been completely forgiven through Him. Too many today suffer from anxiousness. We must share our Lord Jesus Christ with them, for only through Him can they know perfect peace.
