Scripture to Read: Hebrews 8:10
God the Father gives us a beautiful pic- ture in Hebrews 8:10 of what He has done for every follower of Christ. God the Father set forth this new covenant with the house of Israel, the descendants of Abraham. Who exactly are the descendants of Abra- ham? Every person who surrenders their life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God sets this out for us in Galatians 3:6-9 “6 Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. 7 Therefore,
be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. 8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel before- hand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.” Note, Abraham’s faith is pro- claimed in Galatians 3:6, that he believed God and God credited it to Abraham as righteousness. So, everyone who places their complete faith in Christ becomes a de- scendant of Abraham and receives God’s righteousness within them. Through the life, death, burial, and resur- rection of Christ, God the Father seals each follower of Christ through His Holy Spirit. Because God’s Spirit lives in us, we have God’s laws written on our hearts (see also 1 John 2:24-27). We must still read, study, memorize, and be taught by others, but God’s Spirit gives us the discernment to know His Truth, so we consistently walk in His Truth.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about how He has written His laws on your heart?
2. What scriptures are you memorizing so you know His Truth and walk in His Truth each day?
