Scripture to Read: Hebrews 8:1-2
It’s truly a blessing when God makes His Word so evident to us that there is no question what
He wants us to know. As God begins in Hebrews 8:1,
the main point in everything He has taught us so far in Hebrews 1-7 is this: we have an incredible High Priest, our Lord Jesus Christ. Because Christ is our Great High Priest, He has been seated in the place of honor, at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty of God the Fa- ther in heaven. We see this in many other areas of God’s Word, but one, in particular, is in 1 Peter 3:22 which says of Christ, “who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.” Everything has been placed under Christ’s authority because He is God, King, and Lord of all. We also see in Hebrews 8:2 that Christ, as our High Priest, ministers in the holy place, the true tabernacle of God. This tabernacle is not a man-made building but is God the Father’s holy place, built by God Himself. So, Christ is ministering in God the Father’s house by praying continually for us, as we learned in Hebrews 7:25, and also preparing a place for us. We know this because Jesus told us this in John 14:2-3. There is great comfort in knowing all Christ has done and is doing on our behalf.
