Day 7

Scripture to Read: Genesis 7:17-24

As we end this week, we need to make sure we do not miss the devastating destruction brought about by our infinitely powerful God. It’s difficult for us even to comprehend that every man, woman, child, and animal on the face of the earth was killed, except the eight people and the animals on the ark. The stench of death covered the whole earth due to the righteous judgment of God over sinful humanity. God’s judgment on mankind through the flood is a warning of the judgment God will bring again on mankind in the future. Our Lord Jesus Christ actually says this in Matthew 24:36-39. Jesus links two events in Matthew 24, the global flood in Genesis and His rapture of the church. First, the flood was totally unexpected, and Christ’s rapture of His church will be totally unexpected. People were, and will be, eating, drinking, and marrying. Everyone will be living in comfort rather than living in holy preparation for His rapture. We know Noah preached (2 Peter 2:5) during the 75 plus years the ark was being built but no one responded except Noah’s family. Second, God’s wrath came through the flood, and God’s wrath will come again in the Great Tribulation. Third, the ark was used by God to SAVE Noah and his family. Christ alone is the Only One that salvation comes through for all mankind. God’s Word clearly states this in Acts 4:11-12. Therefore, let us make sure we live for Him and share His good news with this lost world.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about God’s judgment through the flood and His coming judgment? 2. How are you sharing His Good News each day through your life and through your conversations?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we begin today, we need always to remember that the result of sin always brings death (Romans 6:23, James 1:14-15). As we examine Genesis 6 and Genesis 7 this week, we will see the result of mankind’s sin. In Genesis 6, God paints a pretty discouraging picture for us of how corrupt and sinful mankind had become. The human population had be...

Day 2

In yesterday’s devotion, we began to unpack how depraved mankind had become, as recorded in Genesis 6. We also saw how the “sons of God” took on human form and had relations with women who gave birth to what God called “Nephilim” (fallen ones). In Scripture, we see that God brought judgment on these fallen angels as well. God tells us the out...

Day 3

As we continue to walk through Genesis 6, we read in Genesis 6:5-10 that sin had gotten so bad that God had decided to destroy ALL of humanity, except for eight people. We need to consider this lost world we live in now as we read Genesis 6 today. It is so obvious today that sin abounds all over our world. It is also hard for us to even imagi...

Day 4

Our last two devotions have shown us the horrible effects of sin on us and God’s creation. Today we start with some Good News. Even though God regretted having created mankind, in Genesis 6:8-9 God introduces us to Noah. Genesis 6:8-9, says this of Noah, Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a...

Day 5

The Good News of Noah’s faith in God is a great word for us to walk with our Lord daily. But, as we begin today, we are reminded again by God how corrupt the world was in Noah's day. God’s Word tells us again, in Genesis 6:11-12, the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold...

Day 6

As we continue today, we need to remember that covenants are found throughout Scripture, as with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and others. The Good News is that our Lord Jesus Christ brought in the New Covenant for all mankind (Hebrews 8:7-13). God the Father provided salvation through the sacrificial blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. As w...
