Scripture to Read: Genesis 6:8-18
Our last two devotions have shown us the horrible effects of sin on us and God’s creation. Today we start with some Good News. Even though God regretted having created mankind, in Genesis 6:8-9 God introduces us to Noah. Genesis 6:8-9, says this of Noah, Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. Our Lord highlighted Noah because Noah had chosen to walk with God. Noah did not find favor with our Lord because of his own goodness. Noah found favor with our Lord because he had placed his faith in God. God speaks of Noah’s faith in Hebrews 11:7, By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. Noah had placed his faith in God Almighty, so he found favor with God. Noah did NOT seek man’s favor, but he chose to walk with God. We must guard against seeking the favor of “man,” and we must continually walk in God’s favor through our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:10, 1 Peter 2:16). We must choose to walk in God’s favor because we belong to Him. We have God’s favor through our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, Who paid the full price for ALL sin, for ALL time, for ALL mankind.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about His favor on Noah and on you and me?
2. How are you choosing to walk in God’s favor each day?
