Day 2

Scripture to Read: Genesis 6:1-4

In yesterday’s devotion, we began to unpack how depraved mankind had become, as recorded in Genesis 6. We also saw how the “sons of God” took on human form and had relations with women who gave birth to what God called “Nephilim” (fallen ones). In Scripture, we see that God brought judgment on these fallen angels as well. God tells us the outcome of these evil angels. In Jude 1:6-7, God’s Word says, And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, He has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day. Also, we see in 1 Peter 3:18-20, For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit, 19 in which He went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, 20 because they formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. God even references Noah, pointing out that He was patient about His judgment as Noah preached the Good News of salvation as he, his family, and others built the ark. The last reference on these evil angels is in 2 Peter 2:4-5. God's final judgment will happen, so we must share His Good News with everyone as God patiently waits for all lost souls to respond to Him.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about the evil angels and the final outcome? 2. The final outcome for every lost soul is the same as for the evil angels. How are you sharing God’s Good News with the lost?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we begin today, we need always to remember that the result of sin always brings death (Romans 6:23, James 1:14-15). As we examine Genesis 6 and Genesis 7 this week, we will see the result of mankind’s sin. In Genesis 6, God paints a pretty discouraging picture for us of how corrupt and sinful mankind had become. The human population had be...

Day 3

As we continue to walk through Genesis 6, we read in Genesis 6:5-10 that sin had gotten so bad that God had decided to destroy ALL of humanity, except for eight people. We need to consider this lost world we live in now as we read Genesis 6 today. It is so obvious today that sin abounds all over our world. It is also hard for us to even imagi...

Day 4

Our last two devotions have shown us the horrible effects of sin on us and God’s creation. Today we start with some Good News. Even though God regretted having created mankind, in Genesis 6:8-9 God introduces us to Noah. Genesis 6:8-9, says this of Noah, Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a...

Day 5

The Good News of Noah’s faith in God is a great word for us to walk with our Lord daily. But, as we begin today, we are reminded again by God how corrupt the world was in Noah's day. God’s Word tells us again, in Genesis 6:11-12, the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and behold...

Day 6

As we continue today, we need to remember that covenants are found throughout Scripture, as with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and others. The Good News is that our Lord Jesus Christ brought in the New Covenant for all mankind (Hebrews 8:7-13). God the Father provided salvation through the sacrificial blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. As w...

Day 7

As we end this week, we need to make sure we do not miss the devastating destruction brought about by our infinitely powerful God. It’s difficult for us even to comprehend that every man, woman, child, and animal on the face of the earth was killed, except the eight people and the animals on the ark. The stench of death covered the whole eart...
