Day 2

Scripture to Read: Genesis 18:9-15

In Genesis 18:9-15, our Lord makes sure Abraham and Sarah know that He will produce a miracle through them. The miracle God will perform through Abraham and Sarah is the child He will give them in their old age. The promise God gave them is the same promise He repeated to Abraham in Genesis 17:17-22. God repeats His promises a lot throughout His Word. God repeats His promises for our benefit because, just like Abraham, we need to be reminded of Gods promises over and over again. God uses His promises in our lives to encourage us and to grow us in our faith in Him. That’s why God says in His Word, in Romans 10:17, So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. There was no doubt that Sarah also knew the promises of God, but at this point in Scripture, under her breath, Sarah laughed in disbelief at God’s promise. Our Lord lovingly rebuked Sarah, but He did it by speaking to Abraham (because Abraham is the head of his household). As we read Genesis 18, we see that our Lord lovingly asked the question, in Genesis 18:14, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Sarah denied that she had laughed, but our Lord called her out in Genesis 18:15 and said to her, “No, but you did laugh.” If we’re not careful, we can find ourselves doubting and laughing within ourselves at some of the promises of God. But God’s promises are true, and all of them WILL come to pass.

Day 7

In Genesis 20, we read how Abraham and Sarah continued to move. Because Abraham doubted God’s protection, he told Sarah that they should call each other brot...
