Scripture to Read: Genesis 18:1-8
As we begin our walk through Genesis 18, 19, and 20 this week, what we find is Gods interactions with Abraham. God also reveals to us, again, the promises He made to Abraham. One other thing we’ll see this week is the consequences that end up coming to people when they choose to disobey God and His Word. As we read Genesis 18:1-8, we see our pre-incarnate Lord appear to Abraham, and also with Him are two of His angels. We know it’s our pre-incarnate Lord Jesus Christ because no one has ever seen God the Father at any time (John 1:18, John 6:46, Colossians 1:16, 1 John 4:12). Abraham is so humbled by the presence of our Lord and His angels that Abraham asks if he can feed them. How do we know Abraham was humbled? Because even though Abraham had plenty of servants to prepare this meal, he and Sarah chose to get the meal prepared themselves, with only a little help from one of their servants. This meal offering would have been a great way of thanking our Lord for His incredible favor on them. As we walk with our Lord each day, we need to always remember the incredible favor of God the Father that has been poured out on us through our Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that we have the fullness of His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, peace, comfort, wisdom, etc., every day of our lives should humble us and create in us an incredibly thankful heart.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today, through Abraham’s meal offering, that you should walk in daily?
2. How are you humbly offering your life, as well as all you have, to our Lord each day to show Him how thankful you are?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
