Scripture to Read: Exodus 38:1–31
In Exodus 38:1–23, God used Bezalel to build the Altar of Burnt Offering, the Laver of Bronze, and all of the curtains for the Outer Court. But we know Bezalel did not work alone, for God tells us in Exodus 38:21–23, “This is the sum of the things for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the Testimony, as counted according to the command of Moses, for the work of the Levites, under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 22 Now Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything that the Lord commanded Moses. 23 With him was Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and a skillful craftsman and an embroiderer in blue and in purple and in scarlet fabric, and in fine linen.” Everything had been completed by these men and the people who worked with them. Note that God used “Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest” to oversee all the work. It was an incredible labor of fine craftsmanship. It took tons of gold, silver, bronze, and other materials. In Exodus 38:24–31, God tells us that the gold given totaled 2,193 pounds, that Israel gave 7,545 pounds of silver, that the people also brought as special offerings 5,310 pounds of bronze, and that the number of men who had given, who were twenty years of age and older, was 603,550 men. Each did their part, and because they did, God’s Tabernacle was built. May each of us do our part for His glory as well.
Challenge & Application
· How did God use the people of the nation of Israel to build His Tabernacle and all that went into it?
· How does God use His children today, and how is He using you for His daily handiwork?
