Scripture to Read: Exodus 35:1–35
God had spoken to Moses for another forty days and nights on Mount Sinai. During that time, God wrote again on the two tablets Moses had brought to the Lord, the Ten Commandments and everything else God had given to Moses. Then, Moses returned to the Israelites and gathered them together. God used Moses to remind the Israelites of the six-day workweek because a huge work was about to begin. Then, Moses told the Israelites of the contribution all of them were to bring to provide everything needed to build the Tabernacle and all that would go in the Tabernacle. Moses also called out everyone who was skillful to be ready to use the skills God had given them to do the work that needed to be done. God moved on the hearts of the Israelites, and they brought everything that was needed. God also filled some of the Israelites with His Holy Spirit so that they had all of the wisdom, understanding, and knowledge needed to be master craftsmen “to make designs for working in gold and in silver and in bronze, 33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work” (Exodus 35:32–33). God has given each of us His Holy Spirit, too, so that we perform the works He has for us to do each day for His glory, honor, and praise (Ephesians 2:10). We need to do our work in a manner that honors our Lord every day (Colossians 3:17, 23–24), knowing we serve Him.
Challenge & Application
· Just as God called the Israelites to give for His Tabernacle, what has God called you to provide for His work here?
· Do you do your work for the Lord and not for people, and if not, why not? (See Colossians 3:17, 23–24 for help.)
