Day 7

Scripture to Read: Exodus 24:9–18

God’s covenant was sealed through the blood and then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went back up Mount Sinai. God’s Word tells us in Exodus 24:10, “and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself.” They did not see God’s face, because too many Scriptures make it clear that no one has seen the face of God. Notice that God’s Word says they focused on God’s feet and that the pavement under His feet was sapphire. What they saw was similar to what Ezekiel and Isaiah later saw, as recorded in Isaiah 6:1 and Ezekiel 1:26. Then we read in Exodus 24:11, “He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and they saw God, and they ate and drank.” What a beautiful picture of God allowing them to fellowship with Him, and it reminds us that we get to fellowship with God daily because of Christ’s perfect blood cleansing us from all our sins. God desires us to fellowship with Him, and He invites us daily to come before Him and learn from Him through His Word and to talk with Him as we practice His presence within us. Only Moses was invited by the Lord to come back up the mountain to receive the stone tablets “with the law and the commandment which God had written for their instruction” (Exodus 24:12). Let’s not miss God’s daily invitation to us.

Day 1

God had finished giving Moses the Ten Commandments, but God continued to reiterate several of His commands. God was making sure the Israelites knew what was expected of them to walk in right fellowship with Him. God also wanted them to fully understand what He would do for them as they passionately pursued Him by walking in obedience to Him. ...

Day 2

God’s provision for Israel was overwhelming, but what God has done for us in Christ far exceeds what the Israelites experienced. God promised the Israelites in (Exodus 23:23) that His Angel would go before them as He brought them into the Promised Land. Because of Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, we now have His presence l...

Day 3

God has called every Christian to serve Him through good works (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:7, 14, & Titus 3:8). He has also given us His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) so that in our good deeds, we bring glory and honor to Him in the way we serve (Colossians 3:23–24). Though the Israelites did not have God’s Spirit living in them, God was still wi...

Day 4

God promised Israel that He would drive out the inhabitants who were living in the Promised Land. But then God gave a warning to Israel in Exodus 23:32–33. God told the Israelites not to make any treaties with the inhabitants and not to accept any of their false gods. God knows how weak our “flesh” is, and He knew if the Israelites did not fo...

Day 5

God had finished all the commands that He had given to Moses, but there was still something the people needed to do. Moses, along with “Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy of the elders of Israel,” were to come up and worship the Lord at a distance (Exodus 24:1). Hearing, reading, studying, and memorizing God’s Word should always lead us to wo...

Day 6

Moses came down to the people of Israel and told them “all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances” (Exodus 24:3). The people of Israel received God’s Word, and, as God’s Word says in Exodus 24:3, “all the people answered with one voice and said, ‘All the words which the Lord has spoken we will do!’” The people of Israel said they were r...
