Day 6

Scripture to Read: Exodus 24:3–8

Moses came down to the people of Israel and told them “all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances” (Exodus 24:3). The people of Israel received God’s Word, and, as God’s Word says in Exodus 24:3, “all the people answered with one voice and said, ‘All the words which the Lord has spoken we will do!’” The people of Israel said they were ready to obey. Sometimes, we can get so excited when we hear the Word of God that we can quickly say, “I’m willing to do it all.” We might have the right intent when we say those words but when the tests and trials of this life hit us, we quickly forget what we said we would do. God gives us a warning about this in James 1:22–25. Then, we read in Exodus 24:4 that Moses wrote everything down that God had said to him. The following day, Moses built an altar to honor and worship the Lord. Moses also had young men bring sacrifices for burnt offerings and peace offerings. Moses took the blood from those sacrificed animals and “took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar” (Exodus 24:6). Once again, Moses read the covenant of the Lord to the people, “and they said, ‘All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!’” Then, “Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people.” The blood was a sign of the covenant God made to them.

Challenge & Application

· There were sacrifices, an altar built, and blood sprinkled to show God’s covenant was sealed by Him. How does Christ’s blood seal God’s covenant with us? · How do you worship our Lord each day and thank Him for His promises through Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God had finished giving Moses the Ten Commandments, but God continued to reiterate several of His commands. God was making sure the Israelites knew what was expected of them to walk in right fellowship with Him. God also wanted them to fully understand what He would do for them as they passionately pursued Him by walking in obedience to Him. ...

Day 2

God’s provision for Israel was overwhelming, but what God has done for us in Christ far exceeds what the Israelites experienced. God promised the Israelites in (Exodus 23:23) that His Angel would go before them as He brought them into the Promised Land. Because of Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, we now have His presence l...

Day 3

God has called every Christian to serve Him through good works (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:7, 14, & Titus 3:8). He has also given us His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) so that in our good deeds, we bring glory and honor to Him in the way we serve (Colossians 3:23–24). Though the Israelites did not have God’s Spirit living in them, God was still wi...

Day 4

God promised Israel that He would drive out the inhabitants who were living in the Promised Land. But then God gave a warning to Israel in Exodus 23:32–33. God told the Israelites not to make any treaties with the inhabitants and not to accept any of their false gods. God knows how weak our “flesh” is, and He knew if the Israelites did not fo...

Day 5

God had finished all the commands that He had given to Moses, but there was still something the people needed to do. Moses, along with “Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy of the elders of Israel,” were to come up and worship the Lord at a distance (Exodus 24:1). Hearing, reading, studying, and memorizing God’s Word should always lead us to wo...

Day 7

God’s covenant was sealed through the blood and then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went back up Mount Sinai. God’s Word tells us in Exodus 24:10, “and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself.” They did not see God’s face, because t...
