Scripture to Read: Exodus 19:10–13
ture to Read – Exodus 19:10–13
Devotional – We all know God is Holy, Perfect, Pure, Sinless, and the list goes on—but we also know, or we should know, that because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, for everyone who surrenders to Him as Lord, we are all washed clean through His blood and made pure, holy, perfect, sinless, righteous, and of course, the list goes on. So, prior to Christ’s sacrifice, anyone who desired to come near to God still had to be consecrated/sanctified/made holy by outward actions. But these consecrated actions were not permanent. The consecrated steps dealt with ceremonial washings and the sacrificing of animals so the blood of the animals would temporarily cover the sins of the people; that is why God told Moses in Exodus 19:10–11, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments; 11 and let them be ready for the third day…” For the Israelites to get close to God’s presence, they must follow the instructions for cleaning themselves. God even had Moses tell the people in Exodus 19:12–13, “You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, ‘Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. 13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether beast or man, he shall not live.’” Considering all they had to do to be close to God should fill our hearts with incredible thankfulness for all Christ has done for us.

· What are some benefits we have as Christians that the Israelites did not have when fellowshipping with God?
· How do you take advantage of the benefits Christ has provided to fellowship with God and know His Word?
