Day 2

Scripture to Read: Exodus 19:4–6

When we ended yesterday’s devotion, Moses had gone up Mount Sinai to hear from God. God told Moses to tell the Israelites the following in Exodus 19:4–6, “You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles ’wings, and brought you to Myself. 5 Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; 6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. ’These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.” First, God reminds them of what they saw Him do to the Egyptians and how He brought the Israelites to Himself. Then, God told them that if they obeyed Him and walked according to His covenant, they would be His possession—God repeats this to the Israelites several times in His Word, not just to the Israelites but also to us, His children, in the New Testament (Deuteronomy 4:20, Deuteronomy 7:6, Deuteronomy 14:2, Deuteronomy 26:18, Psalm 135:4, Titus 2:14,1 Peter 2:9). What God told the Israelites, and repeated to us, is an incredibly precious gift. We must continually remember that we belong to Him and are His holy nation, His royal priesthood because Christ is the One who makes us holy, priests, righteous, and precious in the sight of God the Father. We must obey Him and His Word to walk in the fullness of His blessings (James 1:25).

Challenge & Application

· What are the things we must remember that Christ has done for us so that we can be in right fellowship with God the Father? · How are you fulfilling James 1:25 each day, knowing that obedience to His God brings His blessing?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

God had delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, and they had been free for three months, as we see in Exodus 19:1, “In the third month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.” Finally, they had reached the mountain of God, the place where God had met with Moses back i...

Day 3

Moses had received from the Lord what He wanted Him to share with the Israelites. According to Exodus 19:7, “So Moses came and called the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which the Lord had commanded him.” Moses told them everything that God had said. God still speaks loud and clear today; He uses His Holy Word (the B...

Day 6

God continues to give us some great descriptions of what it was like when He descended on Mount Sinai. We read in Exodus 19:18, “Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.” God did not just descend, but He descended i...

Day 7

God came down on Mount Sinai for all of the Israelites to see and hear. As we read the end of Exodus 19:19, we see that when Moses spoke to God, God answered Moses with thunder. There is no doubt that Moses understood what God said, but it sounded like thunder to the people of Israel. Then God does something interesting. God had already told ...
