Day 3

Scripture to Read: Read Scriptures Below

We know that making disciples is commanded by our Lord; therefore, we must be making disciples by investing in others to grow in their walk with Christ. But to lead others, we must be a living example to show others to do what we are doing. God led Paul to make disciples and many times in God's Word, God led Paul to tell believers to follow his example as he followed the example of Christ (1 Corinthians 4:16, 1 Corinthians 11:1, Philippians 3:17, Philippians 4:9, 1 Thessalonians 1:6). God has called us to do the same thing as we invest in others to follow Christ. We must be that living example that others can follow as we model how to live for Christ. As we live out the example, there is a progression in how to lead others well. First, we must do what Jesus did (Matthew 9:35) and share Him and His Word with others. Then, in making disciples, we must also take others along with us as we share Him and His Word with others (Luke 5:1–11). Then we also give those we are discipling opportunities to share Christ and His Word with others, and we are there to help them (Luke 10:1–20) and share in the joy of ministry. Finally, we continue serving our Lord, and we encourage those we have been discipling to go and make disciples of others as we have done with them. We are able to do all of this through His Holy Spirit who lives in us (John 14:12).
