Day 7

Scripture to Read: Colossians 2:4–5

There have been false teachers for thousands of years because Satan and the spiritual forces of wickedness use lost people to seek to “blind the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4). So, God had Paul write this in Colossians 2:4–5, “I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument. 5 For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ.” God had Paul write His Word to the believers in Colossae, and to all believers since then, so that no one could deceive any follower of Christ with persuasive, deceptive arguments. There will always be those who seek to turn people away from our Lord and His Word. God reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” But as already mentioned, these same forces of darkness use lost people to carry out their deceptions and false teachings. What we must do as followers of Christ is be disciplined in our daily walk with Christ and continually pursue Him and His Word. We must stand strong in our faith in Christ and not be moved when faced with the trials of this life.

Challenge & Application

How have you seen Christians derailed in their daily walk with our Lord because they believed false doctrine? How are you ensuring that you stand firm in your walk with our Lord and His Word each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

When suffering for the cause of Christ is talked about, not many Christians jump up and say they are ready for it all. As God led Paul to write to the church in Colossae, he was actually writing this letter from a Roman prison. Paul knew what it meant to suffer for the cause of Christ, and he was willing to suffer if it meant that others woul...

Day 2

God had Paul mention “the church” in Colossians 1:24. The body of Christ is His church (Ephesians 1:22–23, Colossians 1:18) and Christ uses His church (His body) to fulfill His ministry—that is why Christ told us, as His followers, not to be surprised when we suffer. The world hated Christ, and we represent Him; therefore, the world is going ...

Day 3

Just as God called Paul, He has called every follower of Christ to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). What God has called us to share was kept a mystery for many years. We read this in Colossians 1:26–27, “that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to ...

Day 4

When we consider that God chooses to use us to carry out His will each day, it is truly amazing and wonderful. God does not need us, but He chooses to invite us to be a part of His perfect plan. Part of God’s plan is that we be His witnesses, and we know that is part of His plan since Jesus told us this in Acts 1:8: “but you will receive powe...

Day 5

Living for our Lord is hard work, but it’s also the most enjoyable and fulfilling because we are serving our Lord and He’s using us to carry out His perfect will. As God continued to use Paul to write His Word, we read in Colossians 1:29, “For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” God had...

Day 6

God had Paul share with the believers in Colossae about his struggle, as we read this in Colossians 2:1–3, “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and a...
