Day 4

Scripture to Read: Colossians 1:28

When we consider that God chooses to use us to carry out His will each day, it is truly amazing and wonderful. God does not need us, but He chooses to invite us to be a part of His perfect plan. Part of God’s plan is that we be His witnesses, and we know that is part of His plan since Jesus told us this in Acts 1:8: “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” So, that is why God led Paul to write in Colossians 1:28, “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” God did not just call a few to proclaim Christ, but He called every Christian to be a witness of Christ and how He came to pay the price, through His life to overcome the power and penalty of sin. As we proclaim Christ to a world lost in their sin, we must warn them through God’s Truth of what’s to come if they choose to deny Christ as Lord. When people respond by surrendering to Christ as Lord, we must then disciple them so that they grow in their intimacy with God the Father through Christ and become mature and perfected in Christ through His Holy Spirit who lives in them. What an incredible opportunity we have to serve our Lord this way.

Day 1

When suffering for the cause of Christ is talked about, not many Christians jump up and say they are ready for it all. As God led Paul to write to the church in Colossae, he was actually writing this letter from a Roman prison. Paul knew what it meant to suffer for the cause of Christ, and he was willing to suffer if it meant that others woul...

Day 2

God had Paul mention “the church” in Colossians 1:24. The body of Christ is His church (Ephesians 1:22–23, Colossians 1:18) and Christ uses His church (His body) to fulfill His ministry—that is why Christ told us, as His followers, not to be surprised when we suffer. The world hated Christ, and we represent Him; therefore, the world is going ...

Day 3

Just as God called Paul, He has called every follower of Christ to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). What God has called us to share was kept a mystery for many years. We read this in Colossians 1:26–27, “that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to ...

Day 5

Living for our Lord is hard work, but it’s also the most enjoyable and fulfilling because we are serving our Lord and He’s using us to carry out His perfect will. As God continued to use Paul to write His Word, we read in Colossians 1:29, “For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” God had...

Day 6

God had Paul share with the believers in Colossae about his struggle, as we read this in Colossians 2:1–3, “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and a...

Day 7

There have been false teachers for thousands of years because Satan and the spiritual forces of wickedness use lost people to seek to “blind the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4). So, God had Paul write this in Colossians 2:4–5, “I s...
