Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
As we finish out this week in 2 Thessalonians 2, we find God using Paul to remind us where our comfort and strength come from. Remember on Day 5 of our devotions this week that we unpacked Ephesians 6:10-17. God tells us in Ephesians 6:10 to be strong in Him and in the strength of His might. If we try to rely on our strength we will fail and falter every time. We can never muster up enough strength to overcome in this world. The strength our hearts need for the tests, trials, and tribulations in this life can only be found in an intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Thankfully, as we pursue our intimacy with our Lord and His Word, we experience the fullness of His strength each day. Then we also read about the comfort that we all long for each day. Comfort, peace, and rest, again, can only be fully realized when we are walking with our Lord daily and living obediently to His Word. God promises us His peace in Philippians 4:6-7 as we choose to pray and truly cast (1 Peter 5:7) all our cares on Him, knowing He truly cares for us. Until we believe God’s Truth with all our heart and soul, we will never really know the fullness of all He gives us. God wants us to walk in every good work (Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:14) that He has for us to do. Let’s accomplish His work and word each day.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you about His comfort and strength today?
2. How will you choose to more passionately pursue Christ and His Word so you walk in His work each day?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
