Day 7

Scripture to Read: 2 Peter 1:12–15

As we read 1 John 2:28, we saw that some of God’s children come into His presence but “shrink away from Him in shame” because of their disobedience while living here. They are saved, but there’s little fruit of Christ in them because they’ve chosen to live “fleshly” here. God clarifies this again in 1 Corinthians 3:15–16. God desires that we enter His Kingdom abundantly supplied through Christ. Then, God has Peter give a personal word of exhortation to all the believers who first received this letter in 2 Peter 1:12–15. First Peter 1:12 reminds us always to be ready to remind each other of God’s Word. For believers who have been walking with Christ for some time, many know a lot of God’s Word. But we ALL still need constant reminders so that we continually stand firm in all of God’s Truth. We should NEVER think or say, “I’ve already heard this before, so I do not need this again.” None of us would say about foods we delight in, “I’ve already eaten that, so I don’t ever need to eat that again.” God’s Word is NOT like any other piece of literature. God’s Word is NOT just written words on a page, but His Word is: alive, active, sharper than any sword, like fire, like a hammer, imperishable, enduring, NOT the word of man, but HIS WORD (Jeremiah 23:29, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23, 1 Thessalonians 2:13). It is also RIGHT to stir each other up through God’s Word, for we know our time here is short compared to eternity.

Challenge & Application

· What should you be doing daily to make sure when Christ returns that you do not “shrink away from Him in shame?” · How are you allowing yourself to be constantly reminded of God’s Truth, and how are you helping remind others of God’s Truth?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We begin our walk through 2 Peter this week. God had Peter start the letter of 2 Peter the same way all letters were created during his time. The writer gives an introduction of themselves. In 2 Peter 1:1, Peter describes himself as a“ slave” of Christ. Also, Peter was NOT ashamed to let everyone know he was a slave of Christ. Peter also ment...

Day 2

As we learned yesterday, God has given us the incredible gift of faith so we can trust Him completely. God had Peter continue in his introduction in 2 Peter 1:2 to focus on God’s grace and peace being multiplied to us as we deepen our intimacy with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s excellent news to know that God’s grace and peace are a...

Day 3

God is going to rock our lives today as we unpack 2 Peter 1:3–4. As we see in 2 Peter 1:3–4, God, through His divine power (His Holy Spirit living in us), has given us EVERYTHING we need to live this life fully for Him and walk in a godly manner worthy of Him. All of this happens—and we said this already, but it must be repeated—as we know Hi...

Day 4

Yesterday we began to unpack the deep Truth God has given us in 2 Peter 1:3–4. Today we continue to see all God has given us. Knowing we have ALL we need for life and living godly protects us from falling into the sin of being worldly minded (Matthew 16:23; Colossians 3:1–2, Ephesians 4:23, 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, Romans 12:2). God continues in...

Day 5

Since God has given us sooooooo much, today in 2 Peter 1:5–9, He now tells us what WE MUST DO each day. We must apply with all diligence, which means we must do our spiritual workout every day (Philippians 2:12). Now, we must be careful here. It’s not us, but it’s through God’s Spirit in us as we submit to the fullness of His power and author...

Day 6

God continues to challenge all believers as He had Peter write 2 Peter 1:10–11. Since 2 Peter 1:10 starts with the word, “Therefore,” as we all know, we need to ask ourselves, “What’s the ‘therefore ’there for?” The answer: because God gives us EVERYTHING we need according to 2 Peter 1:3–4 and, as we apply these seven characteristics in 2 Pet...
