Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:3
The return of our Lord Jesus Christ is going to be absolutely awesome for all of His children. But the arrival of our Lord will be the absolute worst day ever for every lost soul. God tells us, through Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 that everyone without Christ is going to be thinking everything is fine when our Lord returns for His bride. Every lost person will be utterly surprised when the Lord returns, just like when a pregnant woman is surprised when the labor pains start. The mother going through labor has no control of when those pains come and no control of how long those pains will last. Those who are living on this earth without Christ will be hit suddenly with the pain and loss of realizing that by their very own choice, they missed Christ entirely and that it is too late to repent. Every lost person that has already died knows they missed Christ because they have been separated from His presence since the day they died. But every lost soul still living does not know the fate that will come to them when Christ returns. As believers, we can rejoice in the coming of our Lord, but we must examine our lives now to make sure we’re living obediently to Him. We must live with the expectancy that Christ could return any day; therefore, we need to live to His honor and glory so we’re not ashamed when He returns (Titus 2:13-14; 1 John 2:28).
