Day 5

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:11

We continue our walk through 1 Thessalonians 3, and today we focus on verse 11. As we have seen this week, Paul and Silvanus received the report from Timothy about how the believers in Thessalonica were doing. Timothy told Paul and Silvanus that the believers in Thessalonica were growing in their faith in Christ, in their love for Christ, His Word, and others. The news from Timothy so encouraged Paul and Silvanus to know that God’s fruit was coming forth through the lives of the believers in Thessalonica. What Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy still desired though was to be able to return to Thessalonica to finish discipling the believers there. So, Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy prayed, asking the Lord to direct their way back to Thessalonica. God has called us to make disciples, but because of COVID-19 we have been kept away from the ones we are to disciple. The good news for us today is that we do have options for getting together through video conferencing like Zoom, FaceTime, GoToMeeting, Google Hangouts, etc…but it’s still not like being in the same room together. We must also continue to pray and ask our Lord to direct our way back to the people He has called us to disciple. We must never lose heart, for God will use us as we serve Him. We must also continually use every form of communication we have at our disposal, so we invest well in the people God has placed under our care.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about how to not lose heart and to be faithful in investing well in others? 2. How will you invest in others this week?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Good news is always enjoyable to receive. We love hearing from friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, etc…when they have good news to share. Now, as a reminder from last week’s devotions, we know that God had led Paul and Silvanus to stay in Athens, alone, and they sent Timothy back to Thessalonica to check on the believers there...

Day 2

The good news we talked about in yesterday’s devotion had incredible results in the lives of Paul, Silvanus, and even Timothy. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:7, we find that Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were continuing to face persecution, just like the believers in Thessalonica. But, when Timothy brought the good news to Paul and Silvanus about...

Day 3

God desires us to have an incredible influence on everyone we meet. The influence God wants us to have, of course, is for His honor, glory, and praise. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:9 today, we see how incredibly grateful Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were to God, for the joy He was giving them through the changed lives of the people in Thessalo...

Day 4

When we consider the people God has placed in our lives through family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, classmates, our church family, etc…then we must know that we are abundantly blessed. When we are separated from the ones we love, as we have been because of COVID-19, we truly realize how much we need the fellowship of each other together. P...

Day 6

God has commanded all of us to choose to love Him and to love others. Love is not about how we feel, but love is all about our actions. Love is selfless and always thinks of others first. God has given us His perfect definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not ar...

Day 7

As we come to the close of this week’s devotions, we have been challenged in the following: to share God’s Good News, to grow in Christ and stand firm in our faith, to walk in His joy and be thankful, to invest in others by making disciples, not to lose heart as we invest amid the tests and trials, and to love well. God desires us to be doing...
