Day 3

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:9

God desires us to have an incredible influence on everyone we meet. The influence God wants us to have, of course, is for His honor, glory, and praise. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:9 today, we see how incredibly grateful Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were to God, for the joy He was giving them through the changed lives of the people in Thessalonica. God wants us to experience this same kind of joy, from Him, through the people we disciple. God has commanded us to make disciples (followers) of Christ in Matthew 28:18-20. As we follow God’s command to make disciples, we have the incredible privilege of seeing the lives of those people changed and transformed by our Lord Jesus Christ. To experience first-hand, seeing lives changed by our God is pure joy. God does not need us to change people’s lives, but He invites us to be a part of His work (Ephesians 2:10; Titus 2:14) in changing people’s lives. If we’re not experiencing the fullness of God’s joy it might be because we’re choosing to be disobedient to His command to make disciples of Christ. Joy can only be found through our relationship with Christ and experiencing the fullness of His joy comes through us walking in obedience to His Word. Another part of experiencing the joy of Christ is continually thanking God (1 Thessalonians 5:18) for the opportunity to be used by Him for His purpose, plans, and pleasure. Let’s fulfill His work and begin walking in the joy we have through His work.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you about His joy and also being thankful? 2. Who will you begin to disciple in order to walk in obedience to our Lord?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Good news is always enjoyable to receive. We love hearing from friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, etc…when they have good news to share. Now, as a reminder from last week’s devotions, we know that God had led Paul and Silvanus to stay in Athens, alone, and they sent Timothy back to Thessalonica to check on the believers there...

Day 2

The good news we talked about in yesterday’s devotion had incredible results in the lives of Paul, Silvanus, and even Timothy. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:7, we find that Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were continuing to face persecution, just like the believers in Thessalonica. But, when Timothy brought the good news to Paul and Silvanus about...

When we consider the people God has placed in our lives through family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, classmates, our church family, etc…then we must know that we are abundantly blessed. When we are separated from the ones we love, as we have been because of COVID-19, we truly realize how much we need the fellowship of each other together. P...

As we have seen this week, Paul and Silvanus received the report from Timothy about how the believers in Thessalonica were doing. Day 6

God has commanded all of us to choose to love Him and to love others. Love is not about how we feel, but love is all about our actions. Love is selfless and always thinks of others first. God has given us His perfect definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not ar...

Day 7

As we come to the close of this week’s devotions, we have been challenged in the following: to share God’s Good News, to grow in Christ and stand firm in our faith, to walk in His joy and be thankful, to invest in others by making disciples, not to lose heart as we invest amid the tests and trials, and to love well. God desires us to be doing...
