Day 4

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:10

When we consider the people God has placed in our lives through family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, classmates, our church family, etc…then we must know that we are abundantly blessed. When we are separated from the ones we love, as we have been because of COVID-19, we truly realize how much we need the fellowship of each other together. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were feeling that same separation from the new believers in Thessalonica that had become family to Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy. We know that God had allowed Timothy to go back to Thessalonica to encourage and strengthen those believers there, but Paul and Silvanus had not yet been able to return. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy decided NOT to moan, complain, gripe, grumble, or feel sorry for themselves, but instead, they PRAYED EARNESTLY both night and day, trusting in God to open up a door for them to return to Thessalonica. What a great word of encouragement and admonishment to all of us today as we face separation from others. We must continually pray, both day and night, and trust God to open up the doors for us to do ministry in a way that honors and pleases Him. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy did not just want to get together with the believers in Thessalonica, but they wanted to invest in those believers deeply. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy wanted to be used by God to complete whatever might still be lacking in the faith of those believers in Thessalonica.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about your investment in other believers and allowing others to invest in you? 2. Who will you invest in this week to help complete what they lack in their faith in Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Good news is always enjoyable to receive. We love hearing from friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, etc…when they have good news to share. Now, as a reminder from last week’s devotions, we know that God had led Paul and Silvanus to stay in Athens, alone, and they sent Timothy back to Thessalonica to check on the believers there...

Day 2

The good news we talked about in yesterday’s devotion had incredible results in the lives of Paul, Silvanus, and even Timothy. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:7, we find that Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were continuing to face persecution, just like the believers in Thessalonica. But, when Timothy brought the good news to Paul and Silvanus about...

Day 3

God desires us to have an incredible influence on everyone we meet. The influence God wants us to have, of course, is for His honor, glory, and praise. As we read 1 Thessalonians 3:9 today, we see how incredibly grateful Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were to God, for the joy He was giving them through the changed lives of the people in Thessalo...

Day 5

We continue our walk through 1 Thessalonians 3, and today we focus on verse 11. As we have seen this week, Paul and Silvanus received the report from Timothy about how the believers in Thessalonica were doing. Timothy told Paul and Silvanus that the believers in Thessalonica were growing in their faith in Christ, in their love for Christ, His...

Day 6

God has commanded all of us to choose to love Him and to love others. Love is not about how we feel, but love is all about our actions. Love is selfless and always thinks of others first. God has given us His perfect definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not ar...

Day 7

As we come to the close of this week’s devotions, we have been challenged in the following: to share God’s Good News, to grow in Christ and stand firm in our faith, to walk in His joy and be thankful, to invest in others by making disciples, not to lose heart as we invest amid the tests and trials, and to love well. God desires us to be doing...
