Day 6

Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 1:10-11

God had Peter point out something unique about our salvation in Christ in 1 Peter 1:10-12. Today we’ll focus on 1 Peter 1:10-11 and then tomorrow, we’ll finish up with 1 Peter 1:12. God had Peter mention the prophets of the Old Testament, who prophesied about God’s grace coming to mankind in Christ. Depending on where you search, the Old Testament contains anywhere from 350-365 prophecies referring to the coming of Christ. These prophets, who God used to write about the coming of Christ through His Holy Spirit, carefully searched and asked questions about the coming Messiah. The Holy Spirit made it clear to these prophets what to write about the coming Messiah. But the Holy Spirit did not reveal to these prophets who this Messiah would be or when exactly He would arrive. But the prophets still searched diligently because they wanted to know if their Messiah would come in their lifetime. All of the 350-365 prophecies written about the life, death, burial, and resurrection of our Messiah were completely fulfilled through Jesus our Lord. Peter Stoner, in “Science Speaks” (Moody Press, 1963), determined that the probability of any one man fulfilling ONLY 8 (eight) of the Messianic prophesies would be 1 in 10 to the 17th power. No wonder the prophets of the Old Testament wanted to know who the Messiah would be and when He would come. We know our Messiah and all He's done for us. Since we have this full knowledge, we should hunger even more than the prophets did.

Challenge & Application

1. Since you know Christ as Messiah, how are you continually searching His Word and building your intimacy with Him? 2. With what God taught you today, how will you use these facts to share your Lord with people still searching?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

Being a born-again follower of our Lord Jesus Christ gives us more than our minds can even comprehend this side of heaven. But as God used Peter to write His Word, we find in 1 Peter 1:4 that our inheritance, which we have through our relationship with Christ, is as God’s Word describes, “imperishable” (beyond the reach of change), “undefiled...

We know that our inheritance is Christ, for He is our great treasure and He, as our inheritance, is perfect, eternal, never changing, and waiting in heaven for us for all eternity. God the Father has done all of this for us through ou...

We know that Peter actually walked with our Lord Jesus Christ as one of His original followers. On many occasions, Peter had been given the incredible privilege of being with Christ, along with James and John, whereas the other di...
