Day 5

Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 1:8-9

We continue to read in 1 Peter 1 and today we see (in 1 Peter 1:8-9) the results of our relationship with Christ. We know that Peter actually walked with our Lord Jesus Christ as one of His original followers. On many occasions, Peter had been given the incredible privilege of being with Christ, along with James and John, whereas the other disciples were not. So, God used Peter to bring out a special point to the believers in his day and about us today. Peter shared that the believers receiving the original letter of 1 Peter, and also us, have never seen the Lord Jesus Christ in the flesh. Though none of us have ever seen our Lord, just like the believers 2,000 years ago, we still love Christ and believe in Him and His Word. Then God had Peter mention, in 1 Peter 1:8, of the believers in Christ, that they greatly rejoiced in Christ with joy inexpressible and full of glory. The example of the early believers is the example we must follow today. No matter what the circumstances of this life might bring our way, we need to greatly rejoice in our Lord with joy inexpressible and full of glory. And, just like the early believers, the outcome of our faith is the salvation of our souls. God has already made clear that our salvation is not just about going to heaven, but it is all about our lives being in Christ and living for Christ because we’re being transformed through Christ. Truly we have reason to rejoice.

Challenge & Application

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

We know that our inheritance is Christ, for He is our great treasure and He, as our inheritance, is perfect, eternal, never changing, and waiting in heaven for us for all eternity. God the Father has done all of this for us through ou...
