Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 1:3
We continue our walk through 1 Peter and begin today in 1 Peter 1:3. As God led Peter to write, God’s Word is clear that all praise and adoration belong to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then God gives us the reason we must continually praise and adore Him. We praise our God because He is the One who caused us to be born again according to His immeasurable grace. Every believer on the face of the earth has been reborn (that means: spiritually transformed, made brand new, completely set apart for God’s purpose and pleasure). This brand-new life that we’ve been given is the “living hope” that we hang onto every day of our lives. Our lives are hopeless and meaningless without Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and ascension. But, because God the Father, through His Holy Spirit, resurrected our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, it is through our Lord Jesus Christ that our hope is very much alive. Unfortunately, there are too many people today living without hope. These hopeless people are looking for something, or someone, to fill the incredible emptiness within them. Many of these people will try medications, others will turn to social media, and then some will add a glass of wine, a beer, an evening drink, thinking that they need something to help them wind down and relax and to find some peace, just for a moment. But the hopelessness remains, and the void is still there. But thanks be to God that through Christ, hope is found and life abundant can be lived.
Challenge & Application
1. What differences did you see today from those who have a relationship with Christ and those who do not?
2. As a believer, how are you walking in the living hope you have in Christ?
